Welcome to our 2026 Host Hub!

Firstly, thank you for hosting for us! Host families create lasting memories for our students. Hosts offer students an insight into life in the UK, as well as giving them a safe and comfortable place to return to after their studies and adventures with us 🙂

Here you’ll find all the information you need throughout the summer: itineraries, key documents and training.

If there’s anything you think is missing from the Host Hub, please let us know!

Key Hosting Documents

Find below key documents relevant to hosting. Please take some time to look through them and let us know if you have any questions:

Language Tree Hosting Handbook – this document outlines key hosting responsibilities, processes and advice for hosts.

Language Tree – Host Family – Fire Evacuation Plan – please display a printed and completed version of this in your home in a place that is visible to students, e.g. on their bedroom door or near your front door/designated emergency exit. If you need us to print a copy for you, please let us know.

Safeguarding Training

Every host must complete the British Council Level 1 Safeguarding training.

It is available on the link below – it is a short online course that is designed to raise awareness of potential issues and how to respond.

It should take around 45mins to complete.

When you complete the course, please take a screenshot and send it to us: info@languagetreeschool.com

Campus Meeting Point

If you are hosting a student aged under 18, you will need to drop students on to campus for 8.45am every day (this time may alter slightly at weekends).

Our campus meeting point is by the campus bus stops.

We advise you enter campus via the main entrance at Treliever Road, at the roundabout take the first left into Car Park A. This car park is behind the campus bus stops.

Itineraries

Find our weekly itineraries for the summer below.

Please look over the ones relevant to the weeks you’re hosting and consider if students will need swimming costumes, walking shoes or other items for this day.

We will be reminding students of what they need, however, we appreciate your support in giving reminders too 🙂

N.B. some excursions, such as the Minack Theatre, will involve late returns and so students will need a packed lunch for their evening meal on these days. We will bring this to your attention as necessary.

Sickness & Illness

In the event that medical advice is required, please take the following steps:

  • Ensure parents (for under 18s) and Language Tree are kept in the loop

The three options are:

  1. Call 111 for medical advice which is not covered by the Pharmacy First scheme and if it is not an emergency.
  2. Visit your local pharmacy if you feel the illness is covered in the flyer pictured. We recommend visiting your local pharmacy before the arrival of your student to ensure they offer this service.
  3. Call 999 – in the event of a medical emergency, always call 999 first.

Pre-summer Zoom meeting

As well as the safeguarding training, we will have a Zoom meeting before the start of the summer school.

In this meeting, we will share all the key points about the upcoming summer programme and our student numbers.

It is also a great time for hosts to ask any questions they may have.

We will also go over the key steps to take in the event that you have any Safeguarding concerns during the summer.

We look forward to seeing you then 🙂
