Sports & Games on our Junior Summer School

At Language Tree we believe that language learning should happen in and out of the classroom and learning can be activated through fun, engaging activities. This means that sports and games form a core part of our Junior Summer School programme.

Every week, students will be able to play a wide range of sports and games as part of our excursions and evening activities on campus.

We even run our special summer school sports tournaments including teenagers from the local area too.

International Summer School Football Tournament

On certain weeks during our summer school programme, we organise a fun football tournament run by professional coaches and including teenagers and teams from the local community.

As next summer is a World Cup summer, this is the perfect opportunity for students to bond outside the classroom, practise lots of English and enjoy some friendly competition.

Sports excursions: Fencing & more

Offering less conventional sports is also important to us, as we want to give our students lots of new experiences.

We are lucky to have some of the best fencing coaches in the UK on our doorstep! In Truro, we partner with Olympic-level coaches for some incredible sessions.

Of course, a summer in Cornwall means plenty of opportunities for watersports as well!

Thanks to our partnerships across a range of excellent water sports providers, our students can try out surfing, SUP, coasteering, kayaking, sailing and more.

Enjoying a variety of games on our summer school

There’s plenty of different ways to play and have fun during our summer school programme.

Board game nights

We love board games! Not only are they a great way to activate learning in the classroom but are fantastic ways to spend downtime outside of our excursion programme.

For Junior Summer School students who like something a bit more chilled, we offer board game evenings on campus. Our chess tournaments are often very popular with students who like a bit 0f friendly competition.

We have dozens of board games to choose from, so there’s something for everyone.

Quiz nights

Another fun evening activity we offer throughout the summer is a Junior Summer School Quiz!

Students can arrange themselves in teams with friends and play for prizes.

With picture, music, language and Cornish triva rounds, it’s a fun way for students to review their time at summer school.

Bowling trips & arcades

Who doesn’t like bowling?! On days where we’re visiting Eden, we may also book some lanes at Ozzell Bowl in St Austell for a couple of hours of bowling and arcade games.

If we have free time in St Ives, Land’s End or Newquay, we are always sure to point out the arcades for our teenage students!

Football golf & crazy golf

An afternoon playing football golf is great fun, whether you like football or not!

The course has beautiful views of the sea and gives students the opportunity to stretch their legs and have a chill kick around.

For those who want more ‘golf’ and less ‘football’, crazy golf is always a hit!

Falmouth Games Room

On afternoons in Falmouth, we love popping into the Games Room.

Students can play shuffleboard, table tennis, table football, darts or pool. There’s also loads of board games and giant jenga.

It’s very easy to end up playing games here for hours.
