We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds — from juniors and teens to adults and families. Each course is designed to suit specific age groups and learning goals.
Our different age groups are as follows:
- Juniors (13-17)
- Families can join us with children aged 9+
- Adults (18+) – though most of our adults are 30+ and we also welcome adults in their 60s and 70s each summer too.
Our summer programmes take place on the Penryn Campus, part of Falmouth University in Cornwall. The postcode is TR10 9FE.
It is a wonderful modern, spacious and green campus close to the seaside town of Falmouth.
On campus we have residential accommodation, classrooms, dining facilities (full board), social space, a gym (for 18+), laundry facilities, sports facilities – everything is all together in one place on campus.
See location We offer immersive language and culture courses for juniors, adults, families.
You will study in a level-based class with students of a similar age and level.
Most of the time we offer General English courses with a communicative focus. With 3 hours of English classes each morning, we divide the class into different parts.
The first part of the class focuses on engaging topics linked to our National Geographic course books. Then in the second part of the class, we focus more on the history and culture of Cornwall with lessons closely linked to our excursion programme.
We can also offer exam preparation classes on request.
Yes, all Language Tree teachers are qualified with recognised English language teaching certifications and have experience working with international learners.
We have a fantastic team of teachers who return to work with us each summer.
To ensure personal attention and effective learning, most of our classes have between 6 and 10 students, with a maximum of 12 for adult students and 15 for our teenage classes.
Depending on your nationality and which country you are visiting from, you may need a visa to study with us.
Since April 2025, all visitors to the UK also now need a ETA (electronic travel authorisation) in order to visit the UK.
Applying for an ETA and/or a visa is normally a very easy process and we are happy to assist you with this process if required.
We offer fantastic accommodation options:
- Full board residential accommodation on our campus – choose from double or twin rooms. We have separate blocks for our teenage students, families and adults
- Full board homestay accommodation with local hosts – we know all our hosts personally. We have visited their homes and completed a registration process with them which helps us to match students to suitable hosts. We have hosts who are close to the campus, close to the beach and in other locations. For students under 18, hosts will bring students to campus and collect them at the end of the day.
- Private accommodation options – Falmouth is a popular tourist destination so there are a wide variety of hotels and B&B accommodation to choose from – there is also the option to rent a private apartment or cottage.
See accommodation options We run regular social and cultural activities, including beach outings, coastal walks, creative workshops, and visits to local attractions and festivals.
See activities We follow strict safeguarding policies with supervised activities, trained staff, and a strong focus on wellbeing and safety for all younger students.
