Care of Under 18s – Safety & Welfare

At Language Tree, we understand that sending a young person to study abroad is a big decision. That’s why we place the highest priority on the safety, care, and wellbeing of all our students — especially those under 18. From the moment they enrol to the day they return home, we’re committed to creating a secure, supportive, and enjoyable environment where every young learner can thrive, explore, and grow with confidence.

Practical steps to keep students safe

We take clear, practical steps to ensure the safety of every young learner.

All under-18s provide emergency contact details and parental consent forms.

Younger students are placed in age-appropriate classes, with our experienced team offering ongoing support and guidance throughout their stay.

Tailored support for younger students

We take a thoughtful, age-appropriate approach to every young learner’s experience:

  • Students aged 13–15 are always placed in classes with others of a similar age and level.

  • Students aged 16–17 may choose to join adult classes, if appropriate for their level and personal goals.

  • We collect emergency contact details and parental consent forms for every under-18 student.

This structure ensures every young person feels safe, included, and supported from day one.

A culture of care and responsibility

Our team is trained, experienced, and fully committed to safeguarding every student:

  • All staff, host families, and activity leaders are DBS-checked and fully vetted.

  • Host families are personally visited to ensure a safe and welcoming home environment.

  • All excursions and activities undergo additional risk assessments for under-18s.

  • We work only with trusted local partners for water sports and adventure activities.

  • Our detailed Safeguarding Policy is upheld by a dedicated management team.

  • Staff actively engage with students throughout their stay to ensure wellbeing and open communication.
