How to apply for your ETA to visit the UK

Since April 2024, everyone who visits the UK needs to apply for an ETA.

An ETA is an Electronic Travel Authorisation. It is an electronic document that is attached to your passport.

It is easy to apply for an ETA on the UK government website.

Do not apply for an ETA from any other place!

Even children and babies need to have an ETA to enter the UK.

Don’t worry, it’s very simple process and we have created this guide to help you…

Apply for an ETA on your mobile phone

The easiest way to apply for an ETA is on your mobile phone.

You can download the official UK government ETA app from Google Play or from the App Store.

Once you download the app, there are simple instructions to follow to apply for your ETA.

If you prefer, you can also apply for an ETA on the UK government website following the link above.

Take a passport style photo of yourself

As part of the process, you will be asked to take a passport style photo of yourself on your phone.

Make sure you are in a place with good lighting and a white background.

For children under 10 years old, you do not need to take a photo for their ETA application.

You will need to use your phone to scan your passport

When you apply for your ETA using your mobile phone, the app will ask you to use your phone to scan your passport.

Once your ETA is approved, you will receive email confirmation and the document will be electronically attached to your passport.

Your ETA will be valid for two years. During that time you can visit the UK as many times as you like with your ETA.

In theory, you do not need to print anything. However, we recommend you print your email with your reference number to confirm your ETA.

Where is Cornwall?

Cornwall is in the south west of the UK. In fact, it’s home to both the most southerly and most westerly points of the United Kingdom.

Sometimes visitors may find the prospect of travelling to the south-westerly tip of the country daunting.

Don’t worry!

There are lots of great options available to you and we are here to help make that journey as simple and easy as possible.

We offer a full airport transfer service from all the main UK airports and from London St Pancras for Eurostar arrivals.

We will be there to meet you at the airport and we will bring you directly to our campus.
