Fully residential university campus

Since 2024, Language Tree has been based on the Penryn Campus, Cornwall’s only university campus.

It is a beautiful, modern and green university campus with all the facilities in one place:

Safe, secure and comfortable en-suite accommodation with shared kitchens and common room areas
Separate accommodation blocks for teenagers, families and adults
A dedicated dining room where we get to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner every day – all meals are freshly prepared on site and all dietary needs are catered for
Modern, spacious classrooms for our communicative language classes

Quality excursions seven days per week

We provide high-quality, guided excursions every day of the week!

There is so much to do in Cornwall and we want to make sure you get to do as many things as possible during your time on our Summer School.

From Monday to Friday, you will have English classes in the morning, a delicious lunch on campus and then we head off on fantastic excursions around Cornwall from 1.15pm – 6.15pm.

At the weekend, we you will get to enjoy our full day excursions on Saturdays and Sundays.

We design our programmes on a 3-week cycle, so if you stay with us from 1-3 weeks, you will not repeat the same excursion.

With Language Tree, you will never go on a boring excursion. Cornwall is our home and we take great pride in taking you to all the best places.

Our excursions are cleverly designed so there are different options for teenagers, families and adults. You can decide if you prefer to focus more on watersports, garden tours, coast walks or visits to cultural attractions. Whichever option you choose, our team are there to guide and lead the excursions.

Fantastic, communicative English classes

As Cornwall’s only British Council accredited language school, we offer quality English language classes that are communicative, fun, useful and that introduce students to the history and culture of Cornwall.

On our Summer School we offer separate English language classes for Young Learners (8-12), teenagers (12-17) and adults (18+).

Students study in small groups with students of a similar age and level.

Before arriving in the UK, all students are sent a test to complete so that they can be placed in the correct class from the first day.

All our teachers are qualified English language teachers in line with British Council standards. Nearly all our teachers have a close connection to Cornwall and most of them are also Activity Leaders who will also be there to guide and lead our excursions too.

A personal and special language learning experience

As an independent, family-run language school, we are completely focused on offering our students a unique and personal language learning experience.

Our aim is to ensure that every student goes home feeling like they have had the best language holiday experience of their lives.

We love it when students have special requests for things they would like to do during their language holiday with us. We make it our mission to incorporate these requests into our programme.

Over the years we have provided:

Dawn horse-riding adventures along the beach
Sea shanty nights in a local pub
a visit to a local music festival
Vocational talks at a Geothermal engineering project
A visit to Stonehenge as part of the airport transfer down to Cornwall.
An introduction to rugby
a pottery making workshop
Beach cleans with Beach Guardian, and,
A ghost tour of St Ives

The success of some of these excursions has meant they are now firm fixtures in our summer school programmes.

This is the core of how we want our Language Tree Summer School to feel: it is something we shape and experience with our students, sharing the joy of new adventures together!
