What is it like inside a Language Tree classroom?

Find out how we combine fun, education and culture in our classrooms…

What to expect from studying with Language Tree
When students join us at Language Tree, we ensure their classroom experience is productive, engaging, and tailored to their needs. Here’s how:
Learning at the right level from day one: Every student takes our Language Tree level test before arriving, ensuring they are placed in the right class. This means no time is wasted on testing on arrival, our students get to dive straight into their language learning fun from the very first moment!
Well-qualified teachers: At Language Tree, we only employ qualified and enthusiastic teachers who embrace our ethos of delivering useful, communicative classes.
Small class sizes: We have a maximum class size of 15 students in our Junior classes and 12 students in our Adult classes. Often our class sizes are much smaller with 6-10 students per class, giving our students more opportunities to practice their English in a relaxing environment.
End-of-course certificates: Every student receives an end of course certificate. This document, personally written by their teacher, details their CEFR level and core language competencies.
Top-notch coursebooks: Each student is provided with their own high-quality National Geographic coursebook, plus access to a variety of materials for dynamic and diverse learning activities.

What do our lessons look like?
We know that when students travel to another country to study English, they are looking for something different to their studies at home. They aren’t here to flip pages in a textbook, or fill out endless worksheets. That’s why our classes are packed with as many opportunities for students to speak as possible.
Classes take place every morning from 9am – 12pm (with a short break in the middle). The lessons are structured into two sections:
- Part 1: Language & Skills Development (90 mins)
For the first part of the morning, the class is focused on developing students’ language skills in all the key areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar. We use the National Geographic Outcomes course books as a framework to support this. These excellent, new course books are a fantastic tool to engage students in quality language learning through interesting topics. We empower our teachers to use this resource creatively, fostering a dynamic and fun learning environment where students feel confident expressing themselves in English. - Part 2: Language, Culture and Adventure in Cornwall & the UK (90 mins)
The second part of the morning focuses on the incredible history and culture of Cornwall (and the UK too). This part of the morning is the perfect time to prepare students for their afternoon excursions. Our teachers use a wide array of resources including videos, magazines and realia to prepare and engage students in the adventures they will be having in the afternoons. This part of the lesson is far more practical, our goal is to foster not just language proficiency but also cultural understanding, making each day an opportunity for students of all levels to have fun while communicating in English.
Whatever the lesson, our classes are designed to be educational, communicative and fun! Providing students plenty of opportunities to engage in discussions, creative projects, and games along the way.

Cornwall is the ideal setting for language learning
Learning English should be a fun and memorable adventure. And, in our opinion, there’s no better backdrop to that adventure than Cornwall. With its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture, this region has so much to offer intrepid language explorers!
Here, communication comes to life and students can take what they learn in our classrooms out into the real world. It could be through chatting with locals at a market, practising new vocabulary while hiking along the dramatic coast path, or discussing art and history in the very places they were made. Our students can engage in real-world conversations every day.
We’re passionate about combining language, culture and adventure to create a unique experience for every student.
Our tailored programmes ensure that every learner – regardless of age or ability – feels supported in their language journey.
Join us this summer, and let Cornwall be the place where your language learning adventure takes place!
